10/10/2014 - Cover of forage radish. In addition there Is garlic, fava bean, beet, rutabaga and carrot In the Lower plot. This plot started with corn and soybeans on 06/02/2014. Plan was to follow corn / soybean with cruciferous vegetables. Timing was a little off, so cruciferous made their way to another area. Beet, carrot and rutabaga are from 2011 seed and are hybrids. (the first and last that I will use). The center Bush on the bamboo is a wild tomato plant from 2013 dropped seed. I planted beefsteak s in 2013. The plant that grew wild is producing a cherry style tomato. Very flavorful (spicey) with plentiful production. There are 3-4 plants like this growing. I wonder if that means that the seed that I used in 2013 were hybrids, or is there such a thing as hybrid effect.
Winter rye, hairy vetch, and forage radish in addition to fava beans are the winter cover crop, sown on 09/30/2014.(right on time).
